In 1999 in Futurarium was born, the "New School of Design, Architecture, and Art." Futurarium is a "new" post-graduate school: before all else, it is a factory of aesthetics, which produces states of mind about design – a factory in which established designers and students of design work together, contributing their experience to the "work in progress," combining their knowledge, approaches, manual and theoretical skills, and even more so their desires, utopias, and doubts.
FUTURARIUM'S PHILOSOPHY
In Futurarium creativity isn't prescribed by specific fields or approaches to design, but by the search for the empty spaces between one discipline and another: through research which considers every field of knowledge, not according to the established norms, but according to the possibilities in the rich and profound interaction between one discipline and another. "Design and realization together" is the guiding principle of Futurarium. Designing is a "daily game," involving teachers and students: this provides the methodology of this special factory. But to produce what? A new environment, populated by new objects: a space which is simultaneously concrete and mental. Futurarium is, above all else, the desire to use design to transform the exterior world, the environment in which people live every day, to make it passionate, emotional, and as real as the desires that they cultivate inside themselves. Only someone who can comprehend the alchemy of time and space will be able to design tomorrow's man and his world.
WHO IS CALLED
Futurarium is a workshop where students can participate who wish to understand the next step they will make towards their profession, together with those that desire to face the working world with a new and innovative approach.
Futurarium is the closest thing to a real working experience, because it is setup as the Rennaissance "Bottega" workshop methodologies, facing real projects with Masters in the fields of Design, Art, Architecture, Photography, Graphics...
A PROFESSIONAL FUTURE
Within this experimental workshop, the students study architecture, painting, design, sculpture, music, theatre, photography, to understand tomorrow's design landscape. The School develops skills applicable as much to Psychology as to Architecture or Theatre or Communications.
The word Future generates Futurarium: a place really intense, mobile, fluent, magic, but even material, psychological, safe and robotic where tomorrow-objects born while big changes shake the logic of all the world's structures.
That is the place were the object of the future will be created and it will be the same object that is in the centre of all the designers' problem.
This is the project of the future as a visionary utopia, as a project dizziness, as a dream, as a paradox, as a truthfulness search even if reality is a form of swindle.
Objects of a big expressive freedom will come out from Futurarium to be located in really far away lands, mental ideals as in a handcraft exercise or a project combining design and sculpture together will be conceived, because arts like Design and Architecture are not considered in their rules, but they are in the rules of big free spaces existent among them.
In a big labyrinth of ideas their is the enthusiasm of understanding that you are doing exactly all what you never expected to do.
As in a factory, in Futurarium objects born, combine among them, reborn in different forms touching all the different materials from iron to wood, from glass to ceramic, in a creative status destined to never die.
Here there is a sort of richness that consists in leaving people their own time and their own working space: everybody discovers all what he doesn't know about himself, so by living contrasting emotions he can become exactly what he isn't expressing in this way the big indeterminateness of the present.
Here in a crossroad of far ideas, in a mixture of aesthetic experiences human beings will be loved more than disciplines.
