Founded in 1984, the UCIMA Association represents the Italian Manufacturers of Packing and Packaging Machinery.
UCIMA groups 90 companies which represent 65% of the overall Italian production and 85% of the Italian exports.
Italy is one of the world's main producers of machinery and systems for the packaging of a variety of goods serving the food, confectionery, tobacco, pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, cosmetics and paper industries.
UCIMA operates in Italy and abroad, providing member companies with a range of services in the areas of marketing and promotion, economic matters, technical consultancy and standards, publishing and communications. In addition, UCIMA handles the organisational aspects of Italian participation at foreign trade fairs with the PUNTO ITALIA trademark.
UCIMA operates in conjunction with ACIMGA, The Italian Manufacturers Association of Machinery for the Graphic, Converting And Paper Industry, with whom undertakes a series of joint initiatives.
Aware the importance of trade fairs as a tool for promoting the Italian industry, UCIMA through CENTREXPO Spa (a company expression of UCIMA), independently organises trade fairs for the sector in Italy (IPACK IMA); it also takes care of the organisation of trade fairs abroad in partnership with the major international organisers.
UCIMA is a member of CONFINDUSTRIA (the Confederation of Italian Industries) and INTERMECCANICA (the Federation of mechanical industries) and of the ISTITUTO ITALIANO IMBALLAGGIO (the Italian Packaging Institute). It is also a member of COPAMA, the Confederation which unites the Associations of manufacturers of packaging machinery world wide and EUROPAMA which groups the Eauropean Associations.
